Allergy Testing
Whether you are new to our allergy testing department or returning for a retest, it is extremely important to check with your insurance company about your Allergy Testing and Treatment benefits BEFORE you schedule your testing appointments. Many insurance companies are starting to place limits on the amount of testing that will be covered under your plan.
For instance, currently some Blue Cross Blue Shield plans have imposed a limit of 60 allergy tests per patient per year. Tufts Health Plan currently has a limit of 200 allergy tests per patient per year and some plans even have a daily maximum number of tests allowed. Patients can receive anywhere from 10-50 allergy tests PER SESSION. These allergy tests can add up fast! The examples given are subject to change at any time. Even if you have had testing performed in the past, your insurance carrier may have imposed a limit since your last session. Allergy testing is $16 per injection (test). Knowing your individual insurance benefits is your responsibility. Don't run the risk of being responsible for a substantial financial burden.
Always check with your insurance company about your allergy benefits before receiving these services!
